There is no more consistent team in the CPL than the Guyana Amazon Warriors. They have never failed to qualify for the playoffs and, more often than not, finish 1st or 2nd in the league stage of the competition.
On seven occasions, they have finished as tournament runners-up, with their sole title coming in 2023 when they lost only one game all season. This season may be somewhat of a grey area, as finals week moves to Barbados. Should Guyana reach the playoffs, they cannot rely on the home advantage of playing at Providence in front of a vociferous Guyanese crowd.
Guyana Amazon Warriors 2026 CPL Preview: Fantasy Cricket Banker, Wildcard & Young Gun
The Amazon Warriors have a clear identity and profile that allows them to compete year in, year out. Ten of their 12 local players are Guyanese, and among their five overseas core players, two were with the Warriors last season (Tahir and Pretorius). The other three—Glenn Phillips, Mohammad Nabi, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz—are CPL regulars.
It is hard to look beyond the Amazon Warriors, and many of their players stand out as reliable bankers in fantasy CPL.
Banker: Shai Hope (WKT | £8.1m)
Last season’s top run scorer seems like a absolute banker once again. Shai Hope will either open the batting or bat at number three while keeping wicket. Given that Guyana are likely to go deep in the tournament, he is a safe bet for consistent run accumulation.
The Barbadian has modified his game over the last three years to become an explosive T20 batter, making himself critical to both the West Indies and his various franchise sides.
Wildcard: Shamar Joseph (BWL | £7.8m)
It feels strange to label Shamar Joseph a wildcard, but he has yet to play a full CPL season—featuring in just 13 out of a possible 25 games over the last two years—and has not fully showcased his array of skills.
Last season gave a glimpse of his match-winning capabilities, taking 5 wickets in 5 games at a 7.13 economy rate. While there is an acknowledgment that he is still mastering the format, he remains an X-factor bowler who can turn an innings on its head.
His international performances for the West Indies show year-on-year improvement, and so far in 2026, he has picked up 22 wickets at an average of 19 with an 8.8 economy rate. If he translates that form to CPL 2026, he will be a match-winner for the Warriors.
Young Gun: Jonathan Van Lange (ALR | £4.8m)
Jonathan Van Lange comes fresh off some impressive performances for the West Indies U19s. The 19-year-old is highly rated in Guyana, and his inclusion reflects the Amazon Warriors hierarchy’s long-term investment in him.
He has already featured for the Warriors in the Global Super League, so there is every chance he gets regular opportunities in the CPL alongside their seasoned overseas stars.
