Overview
Somerset finished bottom of the table last season, recording only one win and a tie alongside 10 defeats and two "no results." However, they have had a promising start to 50-over cricket this summer, currently sitting fourth in the table after three wins and three defeats.
While three players passed 200 runs last season, two have since departed: Amanda-Jade Wellington and the recently retired Fran Wilson, who is now the Gloucestershire head coach. Rebecca Odgers remains; she accumulated 224 runs last term and is valued at £5.8m this summer. In the bowling department, Mollie Robbins led the way with 15 wickets last year but is yet to feature this season. Currently, Alex Griffiths is the leading wicket-taker in the One Day Cup with 14 victims. The team will be desperate to improve upon last season’s disappointing showing.

Banker / Wildcard / Young Gun / England Pick
Banker: Heather Knight (ALR)
With over 300 appearances in an England jersey and a century in all three formats, Knight will play a pivotal role in Somerset’s success. She has played three games this season, accumulating 171 runs at an average of 57.00, including a century and a half-century. As she is named in both England squads, her availability is the only significant concern for fantasy managers.
Wildcard: Chloe Skelton (BWL)
Valued at £6.1m, Skelton is a strong pick for a regular starter in good form. She has played all six One Day Cup games, taking 12 wickets at an average of 26.08 with a best of 4/42. Although listed as a bowler who bats down the order, she is capable of contributing nicely with the blade; she has 147 runs at an average of 36.75 and two half-centuries this season, which could see her climb the batting order. She is a reliable presence, having played all 14 games last year.
Young Gun: Lola Harris (BWL)
The 19-year-old has played all six matches in the One Day Cup so far and collected six wickets. Valued at just £4.4m, she is Somerset’s second-cheapest player. As a likely regular starter, she offers a solid budget-enabler role with plenty of room for growth.
England Watch: Danielle Gibson (ALR)
Gibson is a hard-hitting all-rounder who scores quickly. She is currently averaging 47.66 with a strike rate of 147.42 in the One Day Cup. The 25-year-old has been selected for both upcoming England squads; she only played once in this competition last year, so managers should keep a close eye on her availability.
