Surrey Women's 2026 T20 Blast Cricket Draft Preview

  • 2 min read

Overview

The defending champions look formidable as they bid for another T20 title. Surrey dominated last season, winning 11 of their 14 group matches, recording only one defeat, one tie, and one "no result", before overcoming Warwickshire in the final. This season, they have bolstered their batting by adding Australian overseas star Laura Harris.

A side with immense depth, Surrey remains the team to beat. In 2025, five of their batters surpassed 200 runs, including England international Danni Wyatt-Hodge, who top-scored with 377 runs in just nine matches at an average of 53.85 and a strike rate of 157.08. Ryana Macdonald-Gay led the attack with 15 wickets at an average of 16.06, though she is yet to feature this season due to injury. Currently, Surrey sits third in the 50-over standings with three wins and three defeats.

Banker / Wildcard / Young Gun / England Pick

Banker: Laura Harris (BAT)

The Aussie international will slot into Surrey’s top order and is expected to be a consistent run-scorer with high availability. Known for her incredible power-hitting, she boasts a strike rate of 160.76 in the WBBL, 195.55 in the CPL, and 186.95 in The Hundred. Expect rapid returns whenever she is at the crease.

Wildcard: Alice Monaghan (ALR)

Monaghan only played five times last season but has been heavily involved this summer. She has been opening the batting and has bowled the third-most overs for Surrey in the One Day Cup. With England call-ups likely to stretch the squad, she is a consistent starter with multiple point-scoring opportunities.

Young Gun: Tilly Corteen-Coleman (BWL)

The 18-year-old spinner was recently called up to the England squad following her stellar domestic form, taking 2 for 49 against New Zealand on debut earlier this month. She took eight wickets in this competition last season (avg. 25.50) and has already claimed 10 in this summer’s One Day Cup—the second-most for Surrey.

England Watch: Alice Capsey (ALR)

At just 21, Capsey has already represented England 79 times. She offers high match involvement with both bat and ball. She only featured four times during Surrey’s title-winning campaign last year and didn't quite hit her peak; she will be looking to make amends whenever her international schedule allows.
