Gameweek 2 Review

Barbados Tridents vs. Jamaica Kingsmen (Match 4)

Result: Barbados Tridents won by 5 runs.
Review: A high-scoring thriller at Sabina Park saw the Royals put up a massive 206/3. The Kingsmen fought hard in the chase led by Daniel Sams, but ultimately fell just short at 201/9.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots vs. Saint Lucia Kings (Match 5)

Result: St Kitts & Nevis Patriots won by 5 wickets (with 14 balls remaining).
Review: Saint Lucia set a competitive target of 155/8 behind a strong knock from Andre Fletcher. However, the Patriots paced their chase well, reaching 156/5 in 17.4 overs to seal the victory.

Guyana Amazon Warriors vs. Jamaica Kingsmen (Match 6)

Result: Guyana Amazon Warriors won by 6 wickets (with 35 balls remaining).
Review: The Kingsmen struggled to build momentum, getting bowled out for 117 in 19.4 overs. Mohammad Nabi put in a stellar shift, and the Amazon Warriors chased down the target effortlessly at 118/4 in just 14.1 overs.

Top Scorers

Andre Russell (333 pts) – Jamaica didn’t have the ideal return to home soil, but Russell was at his all-round best, nearly pulling off a heist against the Tridents with a blistering 68.

Mohammad Nabi (229 pts) – Rolled back the years with his canny off-spin, picking up four wickets before adding a handy contribution with the bat.

Daniel Sams (190 pts) – In a 200-vs-200 game, Sams stood out with the ball, taking four wickets across the Powerplay and death overs.

Jason Holder (173 pts) – Another strong all-round showing from Holder, who led from the front with 3/20 to help stifle St. Lucia Kings’ chase.

Kamil Pooran (169 pts) – Sparkled in just his second CPL game. After an early reprieve, he batted aggressively and raced to a boundary-filled fifty.

Gameweek 3 Pitch Preview

Gameweek 2 offered a good balance between bat and ball, with first-innings scores of 201, 155 and 117. With GW3 staying in Jamaica and St. Lucia, there should once again be value across both departments if you target the right players.

St. Lucia was particularly helpful for new-ball and hit-the-deck fast bowlers, while Jamaica offered more assistance to spin. Both surfaces provided true bounce, rewarding batters who applied themselves and adapted to the conditions.

Gameweek 3 Selections

Roston Chase (£8.2m)

Chase had a quiet outing against the Patriots, but remains a premium option and strong captaincy candidate for St. Lucia Kings’ double gameweek.

He scored 150 points against the Falcons, who he faces again, and should also offer value with the ball against a left-hand-heavy Tridents lineup. The main concern is batting involvement if the Kings’ top order goes deep again, as it did in GW2.

Maheesh Theekshana (£8.2m)

The Sri Lankan mystery spinner has scored over 100 points in both matches so far, looking threatening with the new ball while maintaining his trademark economy.

New-ball spinners have consistently offered value in the tournament, making Theekshana one of the standout options for St. Lucia’s double gameweek.

Kamil Pooran (£4.2m)

At just 4.2m, Pooran offers a cheap route into the St. Lucia Kings double gameweek. While his domestic record suggests his fifty against the Patriots may be difficult to repeat, he showed plenty of aggression in the Powerplay and has the potential to benefit from a high strike-rate multiplier.

If you already have him on your bench, this could be a good week to activate the 12th Man Googly.

Other Notable Options

Sunil Narine (£8.5m) remains one of the best fantasy assets in the game. If your budget allows, you could bring him in this week before moving him back out ahead of the GW4 blank.
Rahkeem Cornwall (£6.5m) offers plenty of upside at his price and could also help you get ahead on Falcons assets before their double gameweek in GW5.
Brandon King (£7.4m) returned in GW2 despite injury concerns and is currently owned by fewer than 5% of managers. A proven CPL run-scorer, he offers strong differential value at this price.
Alzarri Joseph (£7.8m) returns to St. Lucia, his former CPL home ground. In familiar conditions, he should be well placed to continue his strong early-season form.
