Banker, Wildcard, Young Gun & England Watch

Banker: Kiran Carlson (BAT) £7.2m

An ever-present for Glamorgan last summer, playing all 14 matches and racking up 1,020 runs as well as taking five wickets. His 19 catches were also the joint-seventh most for a non-wicketkeeper; he offers points in all three parts of the game, maximizing his match usage and scoring potential. He and Ingram will again be the key men in the middle order for Glamorgan, and he will be looking to prove his consistency in the top division. He finished 2025 averaging 117.64 points per game while valued at £7.2m and remains that value for 2026.

Wildcard: Andy Gorvin (BWL) £5.9m

Only featured in seven matches last summer, but he impressed when selected. He averaged 144.57 points per game, a figure bettered only by Mason Crane in a Glamorgan jersey. Gorvin collected 20 wickets and added 222 runs from the lower order, giving you a bowler who can also offer runs to maximize his point-scoring opportunities. Also a cheaper option, valued at £5.4m last term and £5.9m this year, he can be a budget-saver to allow you to spend big elsewhere.

Young Gun: Ben Kellaway (ALR) £6.4m

Had a real breakout season in 2025 and was the highest point-scorer for Glamorgan, racking up just shy of 2,000 points with his 813 runs and 25 wickets. He has caught the attention of the England setup with his ambidextrous finger spin and middle-order runs. Valued at £4.8m last summer, he became a firm favourite budget option although you need to pay in excess of £1.5m more in 2026!

England Watch: Asa Tribe (BAT) £6.2m

Asa has broken onto the scene with the England Lions and was picked up in franchise cricket over the winter, putting him firmly on England’s radar. The 21-year-old starred in associate cricket for Jersey, which earned him his contract with Glamorgan, and he has gone from strength to strength since then. While he has been mainly known for white-ball cricket so far, an impressive first year in red-ball cricket with 731 runs makes him one to watch. Over his 16-game first-class career, he is currently averaging an impressive 44 and will be looking to take the jump to Division One in his stride.

2025 Review

2025 County Champ Division 2 League Table
2025 County Champ Division 2 League Table

It was a memorable season for Glamorgan, who pipped Derbyshire to promotion by only five points to secure their spot in Division One. Securing five wins, the second most in the league, was the key to their success, along with using a consistent side where 10 players reached double figures for games played. Colin Ingram and Kiran Carlson both made over 1,000 runs to anchor the middle order and get the team over the line in important games, while four other batters contributed more than 700 runs each. Timm van der Gugten was the key man with the ball, claiming 34 wickets, while spin duo Ben Kellaway and Mason Crane grabbed 52 wickets between them.

2025 Stat Attack

  • Colin Ingram was the eighth highest run scorer in the Cricket Draft for 2025, with 1,076 at an average of 56.63, including seven half centuries and three tons.

  • Ben Kellaway had the 8th highest points per game for players who made more than 1,000 points, with only Calvin Harrison averaging more for players valued £6.0m or less and Kellaway was just £4.8m.

  • Andy Gorvin had the fifth most points for bowlers valued £6.0m or less as well as the fifth most points per game.

  • Wickets were shared around the attack, with 8 bowlers taking 14 or more wickets

Sam Northeast departing to Kent is the biggest news from Cardiff from over the winter. However, he has been replaced by Sean Dickson, who excelled for Somerset in white ball cricket but found his red ball opportunities few and far between. He’ll be aiming to nail down a regular spot and return to his best form across all three formats. Promising batter Thomas Bevan, who stood out in 2nd XI cricket has also left the club.

Colin Ingram returns as an overseas player, having been remarkably consistent at Sophia Gardens other a long period of time. The club has also very recently announced Nathan McAndrew as an overseas signing, and while primarily recruited for the Blast, he is set to feature in at least two County Championship games as well and they have recently added Ryan Hadley to fill the overseas quota for the opening block of fixtures.

2026 Fixtures

Glamorgan start their 2026 Division One campaign with a home fixture against Yorkshire, who finished in the bottom half last season; as such, they will see this as an immediate opportunity for a positive outcome. A trip to the champions is up next as they travel to Nottinghamshire. Glamorgan then face a home game against fellow newly promoted side Leicestershire, potentially a big game early on in the season.

Glamorgan will be looking to start the season strongly and get points on the board early, as a tough run-in, including their final five fixtures against Hampshire, Somerset, Warwickshire, Surrey, and Essex, could make victories hard to come by. Early-season form could well determine whether they have enough breathing room to remain in the division.
