League Position: 8th Group B

Lancashire finished second from bottom in Group B, winning only one of their eight games and losing six. The odd one out was a No Result. The Red Rose county’s big aim before a ball was bowled was County Championship promotion, and that already looks like it’s off the table. The glass half empty view; they have in fact only won three games in two seasons in the 50-over format. The glass half full view; they promise to be significantly stronger this term having only lost seven players to the Hundred, including Jos Buttler and Phil Salt in that number.

As aforementioned, they should be significantly stronger than in the last two seasons, and glory in this format would leave fans remembering the Kings of One-Day Cricket golden era of the 1980s and 1990s. Who will captain the county is yet to be determined. Keaton Jennings is a front-runner, while someone like George Balderson is a possible. Australian batter Marcus Harris is their overseas player.
Banker: Marcus Harris
It has to be Aussie left-hander Harris. If he can anchor the innings and let others bat around him, that will give Lancashire a great chance to score big. Harris, 33, is closing in on 100 career List A appearances and may get there this campaign should the side qualify for knockout cricket and pending his availability in September. He has three career centuries to his name across his List A career.
Wildcard: Josh Bohannon
Josh Bohannon has scored three One-Day Cup centuries in the last two years combined and has been a talismanic presence for an incredibly young and developing side. The county’s vice captain skippered the Red Rose on six occasions in 2024. But he has had a very lean season so far. In eight Championship appearances, he has only topped 50 twice.
Young Gun: Joe Moores
There are many at Lancashire who believe wicketkeeper-batter Joe Moores, 17, is a star of the future. He made his first-team debut with six appearances in this competition last season and has cemented his place in the side in this season’s Championship and T20 Blast, scoring a fifty in each format and ousting more experienced keeper Matty Hurst from behind the stumps. A dashing batter and a whippet in the field if he wasn’t to keep wicket.
