Defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders start every CPL tournament as title favourites. The five-time champions are the most successful franchise in the tournament’s history and head into CPL 2026 with their core Trinidadian engine room firmly intact.
With DJ Bravo taking the reins as head coach, TKR can call on Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, Akeal Hosein, Sunil Narine, and Terrance Hinds to instil a proven winner’s mindset once again.

While it is hard to look past a side with TKR's raw firepower and depth, there is an annual question mark over how long their veteran core can sustain peak performance.
Both Colin Munro and Kieron Pollard are 39 years old, while Alex Hales is no spring chicken at 37. However, their overseas contingent blends proven CPL stalwarts like Hales, Munro, and Tariq with high-upside international talents like Matthew Breetzke and Amshi De Silva. Add that to a local core covering every conceivable tactical base, and TKR remains a goldmine for fantasy point bankers.
Banker: Usman Tariq BWL | £8.4m
Tariq looked virtually unplayable during last year's CPL title run. With a full season of Caribbean conditions under his belt, he looks prime to repeat the trick.
He posted a lethal strike rate of 11.4 in CPL 2025 and has replicated that form in franchise leagues across the globe since. Following a highly productive Vitality Blast stint for Warwickshire in 2026, Tariq should feast on Caribbean tracks tailored to his variations.
Wildcard: Justin Greaves BAT | £6.8m
Greaves missed CPL 2025 due to injury, but there is arguably no Caribbean player in better form right now.
Don't let his recent Test exploits fool you into thinking he is purely a red-ball player; Greaves has demonstrated a versatile boundary-hitting array in 50-over cricket that translates seamlessly to the T20 game. His absence last season means casual managers may overlook him as a T20 option, making him a potential bargain buy who offers valuable all-round utility.
Young Gun: Nathan Edward BWL | £6.2m
Of the retained Breakout League cohort, Nathan Edward is the player most positioned for meaningful game time.
Offering left-arm seam variety, he will battle Dominic Drakes for a spot—and with a Breakout League player mandated in the matchday squad, Edward sits in pole position. TKR trusted the 21-year-old four times last season, and he rewarded them with 6 wickets at an average of 19 (SR 11.0). He remains a diamond in the rough, but TKR clearly believe in his upside and he will get opportunities to deliver.
