Yorkshire Women's 2026 T20 Blast Cricket Draft Preview

  • 2 min read

Overview

Yorkshire are making the step up from Tier 2 for their first crack at the Vitality Blast. They were a strong outfit in Tier 2 last year after winning all eight of their group games and advancing to Finals Day. They overcame Glamorgan in the semi-final before losing out to Middlesex in the final at Northampton. Georgie Boyce was the standout with the bat, scoring 288 runs from the top of the order, while Maddie Ward added 189 at an average of 31.50. Ria Fackrell was the key bowler, taking 16 wickets as three other players reached double figures.

They currently sit sixth in the One Day Cup standings after two wins, three defeats, and a dramatic tie against Durham from their opening six matches. It is a difficult step up for Yorkshire, but one they will be looking to handle well to give a strong account of themselves in their debut year in Tier 1.

Banker / Wildcard / Young Gun / England Pick

Banker: Jess Jonassen (ALR)

Jonassen will have high match involvement for Yorkshire and will look to lead the way with bat and ball as their overseas signing. She has performed well in the One Day Cup so far this summer, being Yorkshire’s leading run-scorer and wicket-taker. She has taken 12 wickets and scored 309 runs, including two centuries, and has represented Australia over 100 times in T20 cricket.

Wildcard: Claudie Cooper (BWL)

Valued at £5.7m, Cooper poses a key wicket-taking threat for Yorkshire. She had the second-most wickets in the T20 last season for the side, grabbing 13 wickets at an average of 16.61. She has also started the season well in 50-over cricket, with 11 wickets to her name—the second-most for Yorkshire—at an average of 19.90 and a best of 3 for 24.

Young Gun: Ines Blackwell (ALR)

The 16-year-old broke into the side at the start of the season and has played five of their six games so far, showing good involvement with both bat and ball. She has taken five wickets and has been batting in the top six. While her top score is 21 at the moment, she has certainly got a solid platform to build from at a young age.

England Watch: Sarah Glenn (BWL)

Glenn has been a key player for England over the years but is currently out due to injury. She will be hoping to regain her fitness at Yorkshire and get back into the side. The 26-year-old leg-spinner has 89 T20 international wickets in 73 appearances for England.
